Socialization is more than meeting people. It is a thoughtful series of safe, supervised experiences that helps a puppy practice adapting to new people, places, sounds, movement, handling, travel, and everyday routines.
Confidence comes from practice
Many small experiences create a stronger foundation.
We introduce variety without overwhelming a puppy. Exposure is paced for age, health, and the individual puppy in front of us. No program can promise a particular adult temperament, but repeated positive practice can give families a more prepared starting point.

Controlled puppy yoga
Age-appropriate puppy yoga adds friendly people, a new setting, gentle handling, activity, rest, and recovery away from the kennel routine.
Car rides and transitions
Traveling to and from structured activities gives puppies repeated experience loading, riding, arriving somewhere new, and settling again.
Leash and public practice
As age and vaccination status allow, puppies begin leash work and learn to move through unfamiliar environments with a person guiding them.
Daily pack life
Living around Riverside Berners juveniles and adults gives puppies extensive practice reading other dogs, sharing space, and responding to boundaries.
Handling and grooming
Regular brushing, bathing, paw handling, nail grinding, photographs, and health checks make ordinary care feel familiar before go-home day.
Puppy yoga with a purpose
A carefully managed change of scenery.
Riverside Berners puppies participate in supervised sessions through Downward Dog Puppy Yoga when their age, health, and vaccination schedule make participation appropriate. They encounter multiple people in a controlled environment, practice transportation and transitions, receive additional grooming and handling, and learn to settle after activity.
Downward Dog Puppy Yoga is a sister company to Riverside Berners. Its role here is the structured socialization experience it provides for Riverside Berners puppies.
Controlled space, controlled protocols
Visit Downward Dog Puppy Yoga ↗Puppy yoga is held in space leased and managed by Downward Dog Puppy Yoga—not in an unrelated third-party studio. Together, Riverside Berners and Downward Dog control access, sanitation procedures, antiviral treatment protocols, handling expectations, and environmental conditions in both locations. That continuity allows the yoga space to function operationally as an extension of our kennel and helps mitigate avoidable exposure risks while puppies receive carefully managed socialization. No shared environment can be completely risk-free, so participation is still determined by each puppy’s age, health, and vaccination status.
Older puppies are not lesser puppies
Why we do not discount puppies simply because they are older.
Every puppy has a family looking for something specific. Remaining at Riverside longer does not reduce the care, training, socialization, or value invested in that puppy. In many cases, the additional time creates a more experienced puppy who can be easier to integrate into a home.
A younger puppy gives a family more of the tiny-puppy stage and more time carrying and experiencing those earliest transitions. An older puppy is simply farther along: larger in size, but with more practice in the routines families need every day.
